If you have ever tried to build a greenhouse out of wood and cover it then you know how hard building this type of structure can be. I don’t know who invented the plastic greenhouse kit but I am so glad they did! It is a lot easier than building one from scratch. That is not to say that it is a piece of cake because there are pieces to be put together and things that don’t always make since so you do have to read the instructions carefully. It’s no different than the bike I put together for my kid last Christmas; frustrating but once done proud! Read the rest of this entry »

Ever since I will a kid growing up in small town U.S.A. I have had a love of gazebos. I don’t care if they are big and sit in the middle of a park or city square or small and sit by the pool in someones backyard, I want to sit under them and just relax and listen to what is going on around it. That’s what I remember, the activity that always surrounds a gazebo. At night there was lights and dancing while the daytime brought family picnics and games. With all this economic stuff happening around us it just made since to do what we could ourselves. Both my wife and I have seen the writing on the wall for about a year now with our jobs in the peripheral auto business so we decided to do everything we could do ourselves in the months ahead. It was easy, straightforward and a real breeze. Read the rest of this entry »
French painter, Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841 – 1919) was a leader of the Impressionist movement. Unlike many Impressionist painters of this period, he preferred to paint his friends and family, capturing candid, “of-the-moment” scenes. In his famous oil on canvas, Luncheon of the Boating Party (Le déjeuner des canotiers) (1881), Renoir paints himself and his friends on the balcony at the restaurant, Maison Fournaise. The technique used in this painting is emblematic of Renoir’s use of color, light and composition to bring about the intimacy and vitality of his works. This treasure of the Impressionist period has been elegantly reproduced in chenille and is available at Decor4u.com as seen here Les Canotiers by Renoir Tapestry ~ Throws.
When choosing a color scheme for your room it’s often wise to go with a shade that you like in other circumstances, such as one you choose often for clothing or accessories such as your area rug runner. However, there are some situations where particular colors are not advised. For example, if your room is north facing you may find that a pure yellow will look drab rather than bright. It’s hard to transport popular colors used in one climate, for example, to another dissimilar one. The bright, pure colors often found in hot, sunny climates will not work in the same way as they do when saturated in strong sunlight. Read the rest of this entry »
